The city I am in is called Florence. It is made of contradictions that make it very odd. The city is old, very old and has most of its original buildings in tact. This may seem good but the buildings are full of new businesses so that when you see them from the inside it resembles any other place in the world. The city being originaly disigned for 40,000 people is now very over crouded, at 200,000. But that does not include the outer city, so that the total goes to about 1 million. That having been said the city is constantly full of tourists, and in fact they had to set a cap at 32,000 incoming tourists a day. If they allowed as many as wanted to come then the city would be over run (literaly) by tourists.
But all is not lost, for there are many nice places to go and things to see, the ponte vechio is nice and I cross it every day. restaurants abound but the one commonalty between every store in Florence is that they charge you for everything, everything. I rarely have water now because it is so expensive, so I just go home when I can and drink the disgusting but potable tap water.
Well I am trying to take care of stuff in the U.S. but it is hard to do from here as I can only email and not all the time. I can not use the internet on the weekend or durring classes or after 6 (usually 130 on friday and 630 on monday).
